Massive Hallucinogen Seizure at Algiers Port Foils Smuggling Attempt

Algiers, November 3, 2025 – Customs officials at the Port of Algiers have successfully intercepted a significant quantity of hallucinogenic pills, thwarting a major smuggling operation. The seizure took place on board the vessel ‘Badji Mokhtar 3,’ which arrived from Marseille.

According to a statement released by the Customs Inspectorate, the operation resulted in the confiscation of 22,347 hallucinogenic tablets. These pills were meticulously concealed within a television set and a loudspeaker system inside a passenger vehicle. The seized drugs included 17,150 tablets of ‘Ecstasy’ and 5,197 tablets of ‘Septax’.

The discovery highlights the ongoing efforts by Algerian customs to combat the illicit trafficking of narcotics and other contraband into the country.

The General Directorate of Customs emphasized that this successful operation underscores the vigilance and professionalism of Algerian customs agents in their unwavering commitment to combating smuggling and illegal trade activities. Officials reaffirmed their dedication to safeguarding the nation’s borders and protecting citizens from the harmful effects of illegal substances.
