Algerian FM Attaf Meets Azerbaijani Counterpart, Signs Cooperation Agreement

Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, at the Ministry headquarters on Tuesday. Bayramov is currently on an official visit to Algeria.

According to a ministry statement, the two ministers held a private meeting followed by expanded discussions involving members of both countries’ delegations. These talks provided an opportunity to review the dynamic relationship between Algeria and Azerbaijan, which is fostered by the special attention given by the leaders of both nations, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Ilham Aliyev.

Emphasis was placed on building upon the convergence of political views and leveraging significant economic assets to elevate bilateral cooperation to promising levels. The ministers exchanged views and analyses on several issues of mutual concern, primarily the latest developments in the Palestinian cause and the evolving situations in their respective regions.

The discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration across various sectors.

At the conclusion of the talks, the ministers signed a bilateral agreement establishing a joint committee for commercial, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation between Algeria and Azerbaijan, the statement added. This agreement marks a significant step towards enhancing collaboration and fostering closer ties between the two nations.

The newly formed committee is expected to play a crucial role in identifying and implementing joint projects that will benefit both countries.
