Road Accidents Claim 11 Lives in 24 Hours Across Algeria

Tragic road accidents across Algeria have resulted in 11 fatalities and numerous injuries in the last 24 hours. According to reports, Civil Protection services responded to a total of 2,733 incidents nationwide, averaging one intervention every 31 seconds.

Of these interventions, 157 were related to traffic accidents, leading to 167 individuals sustaining injuries. The Civil Protection units provided immediate first aid and transported the injured to nearby medical facilities.

DZWatch has learned that the most common causes of these accidents include excessive speeding, driver fatigue, and failure to adhere to traffic regulations. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and prioritize safety while on the road, especially during peak travel times and in areas known for high accident rates.

In addition to road accidents, the Civil Protection also responded to two incidents involving gas leaks. These interventions resulted in the rescue and treatment of four individuals. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in connection with these gas-related incidents.

The high number of road accident fatalities in such a short period underscores the urgent need for increased road safety awareness and stricter enforcement of traffic laws. DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. Road safety advocates are calling for comprehensive measures to address the root causes of these accidents and prevent further loss of life.

Citizens are reminded to report any accidents or emergencies to the Civil Protection hotline immediately.
