Algiers, October 11, 2025 – In a coordinated effort to bolster the agricultural sector, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries convened a meeting to address the availability of agricultural equipment and provide enhanced support to agricultural exporters.
The meeting, held on Thursday, was jointly presided over by Mr. Abdelsalam Djahnit, in charge of managing the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, and Mr. Hamid Ben Saadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries. Senior officials from both ministries were also in attendance.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Trade, the gathering provided a platform to discuss the concerns of stakeholders involved in the import of agricultural equipment, machinery, and spare parts. The discussions centered on streamlining processes and addressing challenges faced by importers to ensure a consistent supply of essential resources for farmers across the country.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the growing importance of exporting Algerian agricultural products to international markets. With surpluses recorded in the production of various agricultural goods, the focus shifted to developing a strategic approach to support exporters in navigating the complexities of international trade. The aim is to facilitate export operations and ensure the smooth flow of Algerian produce to global consumers.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a thriving agricultural sector and promoting economic diversification through increased exports. Further details on the specific measures to be implemented in support of exporters are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
