Gaza – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has stated that over one million children in the Gaza Strip are in urgent need of psychosocial support due to the trauma inflicted by recent conflicts.
According to a statement released by UNRWA, a significant number of children are suffering from the psychological effects of the ongoing situation. The agency highlighted its efforts to alleviate some of the pressure through recreational activities.
“UNRWA organized sports and recreational activities for children in the Gaza Strip,” the statement read, noting the positive impact of these initiatives. “Smiles returned to their faces, and the pressures of daily life and the shadows of war temporarily disappeared.”
The agency emphasized the scale of the problem, stating, “More than one million children in Gaza suffer from psychological trauma and need psychological and social support.” UNRWA affirmed its commitment to providing assistance and making a positive impact on the lives and futures of children in the region.
The need for mental health services in Gaza remains critical. DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
