Tehran – Iran will not submit to Western oversight and will resolutely defend its independence, according to Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Larijani asserted that Western powers are attempting to impose their will on Iran by interfering in its defense and nuclear affairs, emphasizing that Iran’s missile capabilities are a matter of national sovereignty and not subject to foreign intervention.
Speaking at a conference in Tehran, Larijani stated that despite being Iran’s primary trading partner for years following the revolution, the West continues to operate with a “mentality of hegemony and domination.” He argued that the nuclear issue has been used as a pretext to wage a political and economic war against the Iranian people.
“What business is it of yours to comment on our missile capabilities?” Larijani questioned, addressing Western nations. “This is a sovereign matter.”
Larijani further stated that the strength of the Iranian people and the steadfastness of its armed forces have compelled adversaries to reconsider their actions and behave more rationally. He pointed to the wars initiated by the United States without the authorization of the UN Security Council and the resulting chaos in the Middle East, arguing that these actions have ultimately backfired on the US and its allies. He also affirmed that Iran has not sent any messages to America seeking negotiations.
Larijani criticized the West for justifying its dominance under the banner of “peace through strength,” accusing it of sacrificing morality for its own interests. He contrasted this with Iran’s success in maintaining balance by integrating science and faith.
He concluded by stating that Iranian civilization has never submitted to Western authority because it is founded on strength and independence, asserting that Iran, with its history, culture, and sovereignty, will remain a pillar of stability in the region and will not allow anyone to impose conditions upon it. Iran’s commitment to its sovereignty remains unwavering. The nation stands firm against external pressures.
