Amal Salmon Appointed New Director General of Algiers Stock Exchange

Algiers, Algeria – In a move signaling a renewed focus on governance and enhanced efficiency within the national financial market, the Algiers Stock Exchange (Société de Gestion de la Bourse des Valeurs – SGBV) announced the appointment of Amal Salmon as its new Director General. The decision was made by the company’s board of directors during a meeting held on Sunday.

According to a statement released by the SGBV, this appointment is part of a broader dynamic aimed at developing the exchange’s activities, modernizing its structures, and making the financial market more attractive to both local and foreign investments.

Amal Salmon has served as a member of the Algiers Stock Exchange’s board of directors since 2023, representing the Banque de l’Agriculture et du Développement Rural (BADR). She brings with her a wealth of experience spanning many years in the fields of administrative oversight, institutional management, and capital market development. Salmon is also a graduate of the École Supérieure de Banque, one of Algeria’s leading financial training institutions.

The Société de Gestion de la Bourse des Valeurs is the regulatory body for intermediaries operating within the stock exchange (IOB). With a social capital exceeding DZD 485 million, it stands as a cornerstone of the national financial market system and a key platform for the development of modern financing tools. This appointment is expected to further solidify the exchange’s role in Algeria’s economic development.

The Algiers Stock Exchange aims to play a pivotal role in attracting investment and fostering economic growth within the country.
