Algiers – Minister of Foreign Trade, Kamal Rezig, has intensified efforts to revitalize economic cooperation with several nations through the activation and establishment of joint business councils. This initiative aims to foster stronger bilateral partnerships and unlock new opportunities for mutual growth.
In recent weeks, Minister Rezig has held a series of meetings with ambassadors accredited to Algeria, focusing on strategies to enhance trade relations and facilitate investment. The core objective is to create well-structured platforms for collaboration between Algerian and foreign businesses.
During a meeting with the non-resident Ambassador of Singapore, Minister Rezig emphasized the importance of creating an Algerian-Singaporean Business Council. He envisioned this council as a permanent institutional platform to strengthen partnerships, particularly in the technology and modern services sectors where Singapore excels.
Discussions with the Brazilian Ambassador centered on reactivating the Algerian-Brazilian Business Council. The goal is to create a space for coordinating exchanges and developing partnerships in food and agricultural processing industries. Minister Rezig advocated for knowledge sharing and the development of mutually beneficial joint projects.
Minister Rezig also engaged with the Canadian Ambassador, Robin Lynn Whittleton, urging the activation of the Algerian-Canadian Business Council. He highlighted the potential of organizing trade exhibitions in both countries to showcase products and investment opportunities.
Furthermore, the Minister stressed the need to revitalize the Algerian-Belgian Business Council during a meeting with the Belgian Ambassador, Jean-Jacques Quairiat. This council is seen as a practical mechanism for strengthening bilateral economic partnerships.
Expressing Algeria’s desire to elevate economic cooperation with Nicaragua, Minister Rezig proposed the establishment of an Algerian-Nicaraguan Business Council during a meeting with the Nicaraguan ambassador. The aim is to encourage trade and diversify areas of collaboration.
Concluding the series of meetings, Minister Rezig engaged with the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, exploring avenues for enhanced economic partnership through a joint business council.
These initiatives underscore Algeria’s commitment to diversifying its economy and fostering stronger international partnerships for sustainable growth.
