Egyptians Head to Polls for Parliamentary Elections’ First Stage

Cairo, Egypt – The first stage of Egypt’s parliamentary elections commenced today, with voters across 14 governorates casting their ballots. The two-day voting period marks a significant step in the country’s political process.

Approximately 35 million eligible voters are registered to participate in this initial phase of the elections. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly urged citizens to actively engage in the democratic process, making his appeal after casting his own vote at a polling station in Giza Governorate.

The second phase of the parliamentary elections is scheduled for November 21st and 22nd for Egyptians abroad, followed by November 24th and 25th for voters within the country, encompassing 13 governorates.

The National Elections Authority is overseeing the elections, ensuring full judicial supervision throughout the process. These parliamentary elections follow the Senate elections held in August, which saw a voter turnout of 17.1 percent.

The elected parliament will play a crucial role in shaping the country’s legislative agenda and contributing to its overall governance.
