Sahrawi People More Determined Than Ever to Achieve Freedom

Algiers, October 12, 2025 – The Sahrawi people are more resolute and determined than ever to achieve their freedom, declared Khadri Adouh, Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to Algeria. The Ambassador’s statement came during a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of Sahrawi National Unity, held at the Mufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture.

Ambassador Adouh lauded Algeria’s unwavering and robust support for the Sahrawi people’s just cause in their pursuit of freedom and independence. He emphasized that this support enjoys consistent official and popular consensus, resonating powerfully on the international stage. This position, he added, is rooted in the revolutionary principles of the November 1, 1954 Declaration, founded on the values of freedom, dignity, and liberation.

“This support is openly and clearly expressed in international forums,” Khadri stated, “particularly during meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, the Fourth Committee on Decolonization, deliberations of the UN Security Council, and summits of the African Union.”

Furthermore, the Sahrawi Ambassador affirmed that national unity has consistently provided the Sahrawi people with self-confidence, reinforcing a spirit of loyalty to the homeland, safeguarding the supreme interest, and instilling in them a disdain for betrayal and submission to Moroccan occupation attempts.

He stressed that the Sahrawi people, across all segments of society, are united on one unwavering demand: complete independence and the expulsion of the occupier. He highlighted that “national unity was and remains the solid foundation upon which all goals are built.”

“This day represents a timeless historical milestone in the journey of the Sahrawi people,” he added, “recalling a momentous event that was the result of struggle and immense sacrifices made by the sons of Western Sahara for freedom and dignity.”

Ambassador Khadri Adouh also delivered a clear message to the international community, asserting that the Sahrawi people, under the leadership of the Polisario Front, will not cease demanding their inalienable right to self-determination and independence, and that any attempts to bypass or circumvent this right will not succeed. The issue of Western Sahara remains a critical point of contention in the region.
