Sahrawi Organizations Renew Call for Prisoner Release

Occupied El Ayoun – Sahrawi human rights organizations have reiterated their demands for the immediate and unconditional release of all Sahrawi civilian prisoners held in Moroccan prisons. The organizations issued a statement emphasizing their ongoing struggle until the Sahrawi people achieve their full and inalienable rights to freedom, independence, and self-determination.

The renewed calls come amidst growing concerns over the conditions of Sahrawi prisoners, with reports of mistreatment and denial of basic rights. The organizations highlighted the urgent need for international intervention to ensure the safety and well-being of these detainees.

“The continued detention of Sahrawi civilians is a blatant violation of international law and human rights principles,” stated a spokesperson for one of the organizations. “We call on the international community, including the United Nations, to exert pressure on Morocco to release these prisoners immediately and unconditionally.”

The organizations reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful resistance and advocacy for the rights of the Sahrawi people. They emphasized that the struggle for self-determination would continue until the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic achieves full sovereignty over Western Sahara.

The issue of Sahrawi prisoners remains a contentious point in the ongoing dispute over Western Sahara, with human rights organizations consistently raising concerns about their treatment and demanding their release. The Sahrawi organizations have pledged to continue their efforts to bring attention to the plight of the prisoners and to advocate for their freedom on all international platforms. They maintain that the release of all Sahrawi political prisoners is a crucial step towards achieving a just and lasting resolution to the conflict in Western Sahara.
