Qatar Fund Pledges $1M to Support Palestine Hospital

The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has signed a grant agreement to bolster the healthcare system in Palestine. The agreement, valued at $1 million, aims to support the Palestine Hospital located in Harmala, Bethlehem Governorate, in the West Bank.

The grant, formalized with the Organization for Promoting Human Security (OPHS), is specifically designed to enhance the hospital’s capacity to respond to urgent medical needs. This will be achieved through the provision of essential supplies and improved access to vital healthcare and rehabilitation services. The initiative prioritizes those affected by conflict, including patients from Gaza.

The signing ceremony was attended by Sheikh Thani bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of QFFD. The agreement was signed by Mr. Fahad Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Director General of QFFD, and Ambassador Tomáš Lorenz, Director of OPHS.

During the ceremony, Mr. Al-Sulaiti emphasized Qatar’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people. He stated, “Access to high-quality healthcare is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of sustainable development.” He added that this partnership “embodies the State of Qatar’s enduring commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and reflects our keenness to empower health institutions to be able to withstand and respond to crises,” according to a QFFD statement.

Ambassador Lorenz highlighted the urgent need to address the humanitarian needs of Palestinian victims, particularly women and children. He emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive medical care, including prosthetic limbs and psychological support.

This grant signifies Qatar’s continued dedication to providing essential resources and support to the Palestinian healthcare system, ensuring access to critical medical services for vulnerable communities.
