Algeria is exploring new avenues for collaboration with General Electric (GE) in the energy sector. Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjjal, recently received a high-level delegation from the American company, led by Joseph Anis, CEO of Energy Services for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa at GE Vernova.
The meeting, held at the Ministry headquarters, focused on expanding cooperation between GE and Sonelgaz, Algeria’s state-owned utility company. Discussions included potential partnerships in both traditional and renewable energy projects. Senior officials from both sides were present during the talks.
Minister Adjjal emphasized the Algerian government’s commitment to developing the energy and renewable energy sectors, highlighting their crucial role in achieving sustainable development. He stressed the importance of partnering with competent and experienced companies to ensure national objectives are met. The Minister also expressed satisfaction with the existing collaboration between Sonelgaz and General Electric, describing it as a model for American and foreign investors.
“We view strong partnerships as essential for the growth and modernization of our energy infrastructure,” said Minister Adjjal. “Our collaboration with GE has been fruitful, and we are eager to explore new opportunities that will benefit both Algeria and our partners.”
Joseph Anis praised the existing cooperative relationship with Algeria, affirming that General Electric considers Sonelgaz a reliable and strategic partner. He expressed the company’s desire to strengthen this cooperation over the next five years, aligning with the rapid transformations occurring in the global energy sector. GE’s commitment to Algeria remains strong, with a focus on supporting the country’s energy transition and development goals.
