Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian forces are intensifying their attacks on the Pokrovsk axis and in the Zaporizhzhia region, facing challenging battlefield conditions exacerbated by adverse weather.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, confirmed a worsening situation in Zaporizhzhia. This follows reports of Ukrainian troops retreating from positions near several residential areas in the region due to intensified Russian offensives.
“The situation has deteriorated significantly in the Oleksandrivka and Hulyaypole directions, where the enemy, taking advantage of its superiority in manpower and equipment, advanced in fierce battles and captured 3 settlements,” Syrskyi wrote on Telegram.
In eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian military reported repelling numerous Russian attacks along several axes of the front line. They stated that the fiercest battles occurred near Pokrovsk, with Russian forces also intensifying operations in the Kupyansk and Volchansk sectors. Ukrainian forces continue to defend their positions and destroy Russian equipment.
Separately, British Foreign Secretary has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of seeking to plunge Ukraine into darkness and cold as winter approaches.
She added that Russian attacks are not only targeting Ukraine, but also threaten the broader region.
