Geneva – The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip remains appalling a month after the fragile ceasefire, according to a leading international aid organization. The organization highlighted the ongoing suffering of the population due to continued violations and restrictions on aid delivery.
The group stated that despite the cessation of major hostilities, casualties continue to occur daily due to actions by the army, creating an environment of constant fear and insecurity for civilians. Access to essential services, including healthcare, water, and sanitation, remains severely limited, exacerbating the already precarious living conditions.
“The situation on the ground is simply unacceptable,” a spokesperson for the organization stated. “We are witnessing a slow-motion crisis unfolding, with the people of Gaza bearing the brunt of the ongoing instability.”
The organization emphasized the urgent need for unimpeded access to the Gaza Strip to deliver critical humanitarian assistance. They called on all parties to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of civilians. The restrictions on the entry of essential supplies, including medical equipment and food, are severely hampering efforts to alleviate the suffering of the population.
The aid group also expressed concern about the long-term psychological impact of the conflict on the residents of Gaza, particularly children. The repeated cycles of violence and displacement have created a deep sense of trauma and despair, requiring comprehensive mental health support.
The organization reiterated its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza but stressed that a sustainable solution to the crisis requires a lasting ceasefire, the lifting of restrictions on movement and access, and a commitment to addressing the root causes of the conflict.
DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation in Gaza and provide updates as they become available.
