Nationwide School Census Launched for 2025-2026 Academic Year

The Ministry of National Education has instructed its directorates across all provinces to initiate a comprehensive school census for the 2025-2026 academic year. This initiative is part of the annual national effort to compile educational statistics.

The primary objective of this census is to gather accurate and complete data on various pedagogical, administrative, and organizational aspects of educational institutions at all levels. This information will be used to evaluate the current state of the educational system and to inform future development plans.

This undertaking, outlined in directive number 1067, is considered a crucial step in assessing national educational performance. The Ministry emphasizes its importance as a primary source of data for annual reports and analytical studies concerning the Algerian education system.

The comprehensive school census serves as a key tool for diagnosing the realities within educational institutions and evaluating the academic year from multiple perspectives. This includes student enrollment, pedagogical and administrative staffing, and the state of educational infrastructure.

The collected data will serve as a national reference point upon which educational policies are based. It will also enable the identification of the sector’s actual needs in terms of staffing, equipment, and school expansion. A detailed schedule has been established for sessions dedicated to presenting the comprehensive census forms, ensuring the process is organized according to a precise timeline that guarantees quality execution and data accuracy.

The Ministry of Education stresses that the national census relies on strong administrative coordination between various educational levels to ensure the credibility of the figures. Primary school principals are responsible for preparing and reviewing the census forms in collaboration with primary education inspectors before submitting them to the programming and monitoring services at the directorates of education.

The Ministry has also called for the personal oversight of directors and inspectors to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the collected data.
