Algiers, Algeria – The 28th edition of the Algiers International Book Fair (SILA 2025) concluded its run on November 8th, drawing an impressive crowd of over 6.2 million visitors, according to a statement released by the fair’s organizers on Sunday. The event, which commenced on October 29th, showcased a wide array of literary works and cultural activities.
The SILA, a major cultural event in Algeria, provided a platform for publishers, authors, and readers to connect and explore the latest trends in the literary world. This year’s edition featured exhibitors from numerous countries, displaying books across various genres and languages. In addition to book sales and signings, the fair also hosted a series of seminars, workshops, and discussions, fostering intellectual exchange and promoting literacy.
“We are extremely pleased with the turnout and the overall success of this year’s fair,” stated a representative from the SILA organizing committee. “The significant number of visitors reflects the growing interest in reading and culture within Algeria. We believe that SILA plays a vital role in promoting intellectual development and fostering a love for literature among people of all ages.”
The Algiers International Book Fair continues to be a significant event on the Algerian cultural calendar, contributing to the promotion of reading and intellectual discourse within the country. The organizers are already planning for the 29th edition, aiming to build on this year’s success and further enhance the fair’s role as a leading literary event in the region.
