Algiers, Algeria – Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received the United States Ambassador to Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Aubin, at the ministry headquarters on Wednesday to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The meeting, attended by senior officials from both sides, focused on the state of Algerian-American relations and prospects for their enhancement, particularly in the fields of hydrocarbons and mining. Discussions also explored avenues for expanding cooperation into other areas of mutual interest, such as the manufacturing of equipment and supplies related to the oil and gas industry.
Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening dialogue and collaboration between Algeria and the United States, especially in light of the global shifts in energy and natural resource markets, to serve the interests of both nations and promote sustainable development.
During the talks, Minister Arkab emphasized the importance of ongoing exchanges and consultations between Algerian and American companies, particularly between Sonatrach and US giants ExxonMobil and Chevron. He advocated for broadening cooperation to include manufacturing and advanced technologies aimed at reducing emissions.
The discussions also touched upon potential collaboration in innovation, research and development, and the exchange of expertise and training in modern technologies related to the oil and gas industry. The aim is to increase local added value and enhance knowledge and technology transfer.
Ambassador Aubin expressed her satisfaction with the excellent relations between the two countries, praising Algeria’s positive business climate and the confidence that American institutions have in the Algerian market. She affirmed the interest of American companies in strengthening their presence and investments in Algeria through long-term partnerships in the oil and gas sectors. The United States views Algeria as a key partner in the region.
