DZWatch – Tensions are escalating in the West Bank following the deaths of two Palestinian children in Hebron. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) has issued a call for “open engagement” with Israeli forces in the region, citing the recent fatalities as a catalyst for increased resistance.
Earlier today, reports emerged of settler violence targeting Palestinians east of Qalqilya. According to local sources, settlers allegedly hurled stones at Palestinian vehicles near the Qedumim roundabout. No injuries were immediately reported.
Israeli forces also conducted raids in several West Bank towns and refugee camps. Witnesses reported incursions into the Askar refugee camp, east of Nablus. During these operations, several Palestinians were reportedly arrested. Local sources claim that a Palestinian child was physically assaulted during a raid in Methalon, south of Jenin.
Additional arrests were reported in Silwad, east of Ramallah, Azzun, east of Qalqilya, and Tubas, north of the West Bank. The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that the bodies of the two children killed by Israeli forces in Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, remain in Israeli custody. Israeli authorities allege the children were attempting to carry out an attack with Molotov cocktails near the Karmei Tzur settlement.
The PFLP condemned the killings in Beit Ummar as a “new crime” added to Israel’s record against the Palestinian people. In a statement, the group asserted that the incident is part of a systematic escalation targeting the West Bank, with increasing settler violence as a key component of this escalation. The PFLP characterized the situation as a deliberate attempt to destabilize the region and undermine Palestinian sovereignty.
DZWatch is closely monitoring the situation as it unfolds. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
