Algeria Squanders Lead in Friendly Against Egypt

Cairo, Egypt – The Algerian national team relinquished a lead against their Egyptian counterparts in a friendly match held today, Friday, at the Cairo International Stadium. The game served as part of both teams’ preparations for the upcoming Arab Cup tournament.

Algeria started strongly, taking the lead in the first half courtesy of a goal by Adel Boulbina. However, Egypt quickly responded, leveling the score before the halftime whistle, leaving the score at 1-1.

In the second half, Algeria regained the advantage with a goal from Nassim El Ghoul in the 66th minute. Despite holding the lead, the Egyptian team mounted a comeback. Ragab Nabil equalized in the 80th minute, followed by Hossam Hassan, who scored the winning goal in the 89th minute, securing a 3-2 victory for the home side.

The Algerian squad, a second-string selection, is undergoing intensive preparations for the Arab Cup. They are scheduled to face Egypt again next Tuesday as part of their ongoing training for the tournament. This friendly provides crucial match experience and allows the coaching staff to assess player performance ahead of the competition.
