Algiers State Security services have apprehended a suspect following the circulation of a video depicting a violent assault with a prohibited weapon. The arrest was carried out by the 3rd Judicial Police District of El Biar last week.
The suspect, who has a prior criminal record, was taken into custody after authorities became aware of a video circulating on social media. The video allegedly showed an individual attacking a citizen in the Bouzareah municipality with a prohibited bladed weapon.
Working in coordination with the relevant regional prosecutor’s office, judicial police initiated an investigation into the incident. This investigation led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect.
The suspect has been presented before the relevant prosecutor’s office on charges related to disturbing public order and carrying a visible bladed weapon. Authorities allege that these actions contributed to a sense of insecurity in residential neighborhoods and disrupted public order.
