Arahab: Skills Olympics to Boost Competencies, Support Youth

Algiers – The inaugural Skills Olympics 2025, set to commence next Monday in Oran, will serve as a platform to bolster competencies, support young people, and elevate the status of technical and artisanal professions. This was affirmed by the Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Nassima Arahab, this Saturday in Algiers.

During a press conference, Minister Arahab emphasized that the Skills Olympics represents “a pivotal moment in the modernization of Algeria’s skills system and a strategic step within a national vision aimed at enhancing competencies, supporting youth, aligning training with economic demands, and promoting technical and artisanal trades.”

Ms. Arahab noted that the event will feature 550 competitors who qualified for the national stage after participating in local and regional competitions held throughout the year.

The Minister highlighted that the competition program encompasses six professional fields: construction and public works technologies, information and communication technologies, services, creative arts and fashion, and transport and logistics. These fields cover a total of 44 specializations.

Arahab indicated that the judging panel comprises professors and professionals from the vocational training and education sector, representatives from the economic sector, as well as specialists and experts in the field. This panel is tasked with evaluating the work presented by the competitors.

The winners, Arahab confirmed, will go on to participate in international competitions at both continental and global levels. The Ministry of Vocational Training and Education views this as a critical opportunity for Algerian youth to showcase their skills on a world stage.
