The Minister of Health, Professor Mohamed Sidik Ait Messoudene, laid the foundation stone for a new university hospital in Ouargla province on Saturday evening. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Ouargla, Filali Abdelghani. This strategic project, boasting a capacity of 400 beds, represents a significant advancement for the healthcare system in Ouargla and neighboring provinces, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Health.
The new hospital will feature a wide range of specialized medical and surgical departments, aiming to reduce the need for patients to be transferred to other regions for treatment. It will also play a key role in enhancing university-level medical training and scientific research in the health sector.
During his visit, Minister Ait Messoudene held direct meetings with healthcare professionals and citizens, listening to their concerns and requests. Key issues raised included improving working conditions, strengthening human resources, and ensuring the availability of essential equipment.
The Minister emphasized the importance of human capital as the cornerstone of any reform process. He stressed that continuous professional development is essential to ensure performance aligns with modern advancements in the healthcare sector.
Ait Messoudene affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to implementing measures that develop the healthcare system and remove obstacles hindering the improvement of public service.
