Algiers, Algeria – Algeria is bracing for its first significant snowfall of the season as a strong weather system approaches the country’s northern coast. The national weather service forecasts the arrival of a powerful low-pressure system that is expected to bring substantial snowfall and rainfall to several northern provinces.
The anticipated weather disturbance is predicted to gradually impact the country starting today, November 16th, and lasting until Wednesday, November 26th. The eastern, western, and central regions are expected to be most affected by the active Atlantic low, leading to varying degrees of weather instability.
Experts indicate that the influx of extremely cold air masses into the country, beginning Friday, will transform rainfall into snowfall across the high-altitude regions of the western and central interior. This snowfall is expected to continue until Saturday evening before gradually stabilizing with the arrival of a high-pressure system starting on Sunday.
A noticeable drop in temperatures is also expected across the northern regions, accompanied by northwesterly winds that will amplify the feeling of cold. Warnings remain in place regarding the potential formation of ice on certain mountain roads.
The weather service advises citizens, especially those residing in mountainous areas, to exercise caution while traveling due to the possibility of snowfall and disruptions to traffic flow. Authorities are prepared to respond to any weather-related emergencies.
