Israeli Drone Strike Kills One in Southern Lebanon

Blida, Southern Lebanon – A targeted Israeli drone strike on a vehicle in the town of Blida, Southern Lebanon, resulted in one fatality Tuesday evening. This marks the second incident in the same locality today, following an earlier drone attack that deployed a bomb on a bulldozer, causing a fire.

Earlier in the day, another Lebanese citizen was killed in a separate drone strike targeting a car in the city of Bint Jbeil, also in Southern Lebanon. The victim was identified as Ali Shaito, an employee of the Union of Municipalities of Bint Jbeil.

Reports indicate that Israeli warplanes conducted sorties at medium altitude over the eastern and western mountain ranges, as well as the villages of Northern Bekaa and Hermel. Simulated raids were also carried out over the Nabatieh and Iqlim al-Tuffah regions at medium altitude.

These aerial activities coincided with intensive and focused reconnaissance flights by enemy drones over the towns of the Nabatieh and Zahrani districts, at low altitudes. DZWatch has also learned of reports of Israeli gunfire directed towards the outskirts of Houla and Markaba, in the Marjayoun district of Southern Lebanon, originating from a newly established military post on the road connecting the two towns.

These actions represent a continued violation of the ceasefire agreement signed on November 27, 2024. This agreement was intended to end the aggression launched by Israel against Lebanon in October 2023, which escalated into a full-scale war in September 2024. The conflict resulted in over 4,000 deaths and approximately 17,000 injuries.

Israel continues to defy the agreement by maintaining its occupation of five Lebanese hills in the south, seized during the recent war, in addition to other Lebanese territories it has occupied for decades.
