EU Rejects Demographic Changes in Gaza, Supports Palestinian Unity

Brussels – The European Union has reaffirmed its strong opposition to any attempts to alter the demographic or geographic landscape of the Gaza Strip. The EU’s stance comes amid ongoing concerns about the future of the region and its relationship with the West Bank.

According to a statement released by the European Commission, the EU firmly rejects any effort aimed at changing the population makeup or territorial integrity of Gaza. The Commission emphasized its support for unifying Gaza and the West Bank under the authority of the Palestinian Authority.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, previously stated that Gaza is an integral part of a future Palestinian state. She stressed that there should be no further forced displacement of Palestinians from the region.

Adding to the EU’s concerns, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, expressed the Union’s categorical rejection of settler violence in the occupied West Bank. She affirmed that the EU is closely monitoring the actions of settlers and their attacks against Palestinians.

During a meeting with a delegation of Palestinian media representatives at the EU headquarters in Brussels, the High Representative stated that the unacceptable practices and attacks carried out by settlers are subject of intense discussions within the EU. The EU continues to advocate for a peaceful and just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing the importance of preserving the rights and dignity of all individuals in the region.

The EU’s commitment to a two-state solution remains steadfast, with the Union actively working to foster dialogue and cooperation between all parties involved.
