Algeria and Egypt Explore Joint Urban Development Projects

Algiers – Algeria and Egypt are exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in housing and urban development, signaling a potential boost to bilateral relations. Discussions took place during a meeting between Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, and the Algerian Ambassador to Cairo, Mohamed Soufiane, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting focused on exploring potential collaborations in housing and urban development projects that would benefit both nations. Minister El-Sherbiny emphasized the strong historical ties between Algeria and Egypt and expressed Egypt’s desire to expand cooperation with Algeria in construction and urban planning ventures.

He highlighted Egypt’s significant progress in infrastructure development and improved living standards over the past decade, creating new investment opportunities in various sectors, particularly in new cities and road and water networks. El-Sherbiny affirmed the readiness of Egyptian companies to share their technical expertise and practical experiences with Algeria, specifically in housing, infrastructure, smart city initiatives, and the rehabilitation of heritage areas.

Ambassador Soufiane underscored the importance of strengthening coordination between the two countries, especially in the housing and infrastructure sectors, noting the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Algeria and Egypt. He also expressed his admiration for Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, considering it a model reflecting a future-oriented urban vision.

Furthermore, the Ambassador congratulated Egypt on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, describing it as a significant achievement for all Arabs, given its cultural and historical value. The potential collaboration promises to bring mutual benefits and strengthen the long-standing partnership between Algeria and Egypt.
