A delegation of Algerian agricultural experts recently concluded a visit to the Sultanate of Oman, focusing on strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in the agricultural sector. The delegation, representing the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, was received by Ali bin Suleiman Al Manthari, Director General of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate.
The visit centered around bolstering coordination between Algeria and Oman, with a particular emphasis on sharing field experiences in crop protection and disease management. Discussions revolved around developing methods for safeguarding crops from agricultural pests and exploring the adoption of modern technologies to minimize losses in the agricultural sector. The Algerian delegation presented a comprehensive overview of Algeria’s national experience in preserving agricultural products post-harvest, detailing the mechanisms employed to ensure quality storage and effective marketing.
A key component of the visit was a field tour encompassing date and fig plantations, as well as several model farms across Al Dhahirah Governorate. The delegation also inspected projects utilizing greenhouse technologies, providing valuable insights into modern agricultural practices implemented in Oman.
