Palestinian National Council Hails UN Resolutions

Ramallah, Occupied Palestine – The Palestinian National Council (PNC) has welcomed the adoption of several resolutions by the United Nations General Assembly in support of Palestine. PNC Speaker, Rouhi Fattouh, issued a statement today expressing his appreciation for the international community’s continued commitment to Palestinian rights.

The UN General Assembly, through its Fourth Committee concerned with Special Political and Decolonization Matters, adopted seven resolutions pertaining to Palestine. These resolutions address a range of issues, reinforcing the international consensus on key aspects of the Palestinian cause.

“This reflects the steadfast commitment of the international community to the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people,” Fattouh stated. He emphasized the importance of these resolutions in upholding international law and providing a framework for a just and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The resolutions serve as a reminder that the world has not forgotten the plight of the Palestinian people and their struggle for self-determination.

The specific details of the resolutions were not immediately available, but they are expected to cover topics such as the right of return for Palestinian refugees, the illegality of Israeli settlements in the occupied territories, and the need for a two-state solution based on the pre-1967 borders. The PNC views these resolutions as a reaffirmation of the international community’s rejection of the ongoing occupation and its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The adoption of these resolutions comes at a critical time, as the region continues to grapple with instability and the ongoing challenges facing the Palestinian people. The PNC hopes that these resolutions will translate into concrete action by the international community to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law and to create a more conducive environment for peace negotiations.

The PNC reiterated its commitment to working with the international community to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on international law and UN resolutions. They also expressed their gratitude to all the member states of the UN who voted in favor of the resolutions, demonstrating their solidarity with the Palestinian people.
