Gouiri Undergoes Successful Surgery, Assures Fans of Recovery

Algerian international footballer Amine Gouiri, who plays for Olympique Marseille, underwent successful surgery on his right shoulder yesterday in France. This marks a significant first step towards his full recovery and return to competitive play.

Following the operation, the Fennecs striker took to his official Instagram account to reassure fans. “The operation was successful. Thank you all for the messages and support,” Gouiri stated. He accompanied the post with a picture of himself in high spirits from his hospital bed, reflecting his positive mental state after the injury.

The injury occurred during the national team’s match against Uganda at the Stade Hocine Aït Ahmed in Tizi Ouzou. Consequently, Gouiri will miss upcoming fixtures, including the highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations. There is hope for a strong return to the pitch following his rehabilitation.

Earlier this week, Olympique Marseille confirmed that Gouiri would undergo surgery on his right shoulder. The club estimates his recovery period to be approximately three months. This decision was made jointly by the player and the medical team to address recurring shoulder dislocations and ensure a full return to physical fitness as soon as possible.

The club also stated that the surgery will be followed by a rehabilitation period lasting around three months before Gouiri can gradually return to competitive matches. This marks the second time Gouiri will miss a major continental tournament with the Algerian national team. He also missed the 2024 edition in Ivory Coast due to a knee injury. DZWatch wishes Amine Gouiri a speedy and complete recovery.
