International Vehicle Smuggling Rings Busted in Oran

Oran, Algeria – Authorities in Oran have dismantled two international criminal networks involved in large-scale vehicle smuggling and document forgery. The operation, conducted by the Regional Service for Combating Organized Crime (SRLCO), resulted in the recovery of numerous vehicles and the arrest of multiple suspects.

According to a statement released by the national security services, the operation led to the seizure of thirteen vehicles of various makes and models, along with a motorcycle. All had their technical specifications tampered with and their registration documents falsified, with the intent of illegally circulating them within the country.

The successful operation followed a meticulous field investigation, enabling investigators to uncover the criminal methods employed by the two networks and identify their members. Initially, five individuals were apprehended, all of whom were subject to outstanding arrest warrants.

Further investigation, under the supervision of the competent regional prosecutor’s office, led to the arrest of the remaining members of the networks. The total number of suspects arrested has reached eleven, including two public officials. In addition to the vehicles, authorities also seized thirty-two forged vehicle registration cards, technical inspection certificates, and insurance documents bearing false identities.

The suspects have been presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Othmania Court and the Public Prosecutor at the Es Senia Court in Oran. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the smuggling operation and identify any additional accomplices.

This operation underscores the commitment of Algerian law enforcement to combatting organized crime and protecting the integrity of national vehicle registration systems. DZWatch will continue to provide updates on this developing story.
