Constantine, Algeria – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has directed the establishment of specialized medical hospitals across the nation. The announcement, made during a visit to Constantine on Thursday, underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering the national healthcare system.
President Tebboune issued the directive while presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 500-bed university hospital in Constantine. He emphasized the necessity of developing specialized healthcare hubs capable of providing advanced medical services, particularly in fields such as neurology, neurosurgery, and cardiology. He affirmed that these specialized facilities would significantly strengthen the country’s overall healthcare infrastructure.
“Algeria possesses considerable resources and enjoys international credibility,” President Tebboune stated, “which has attracted interest from numerous medically advanced nations eager to collaborate with us.”
The President also stressed the importance of providing timely and effective care for critical medical cases requiring urgent intervention. He highlighted existing partnerships with countries like Germany in the medical field, noting that Algeria will receive the necessary support to advance specialized medical disciplines.
“Building large hospitals is commonplace,” President Tebboune noted, “but what we truly need is to train highly specialized doctors within our own universities. This is our objective.” He further emphasized the need to graduate approximately 13,000 specialized physicians, contrasting this with the current annual output of 13,000 general practitioners. This initiative aims to address the growing demand for specialized medical care within Algeria.
