Constantine, Algeria – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has issued directives for the establishment of specialized hospitals focusing on advanced medical disciplines. The move aims to significantly strengthen the national healthcare system and improve patient care across the country.
During a visit to Constantine, where he laid the foundation stone for a new 500-bed university hospital center, President Tebboune emphasized the need to create advanced healthcare hubs capable of delivering specialized services in areas such as neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, and other highly sensitive medical fields.
The President stated that Algeria possesses considerable resources and enjoys international credibility, leading several medically advanced nations to express their willingness to cooperate. He noted that these specialized facilities would substantially enhance the healthcare system and its capabilities.
President Tebboune also called for the swift management of critical cases requiring urgent medical intervention, highlighting the improvement of emergency care as a fundamental element of an effective healthcare system. He further mentioned Algeria’s medical partnerships with countries like Germany, indicating that the country will receive the necessary assistance to advance specialized medical fields and modernize treatment methods.
“Building large hospitals is common, but training specialized doctors from Algerian universities is the real goal,” President Tebboune stressed. He added that Algeria needs to train approximately 13,000 specialists, while universities currently graduate 13,000 general practitioners annually. This initiative signifies a major step towards improving the quality and accessibility of specialized medical care for Algerian citizens.
