Constantine – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune inaugurated a new pharmaceutical manufacturing complex in Constantine on Thursday, marking a significant step forward for Algeria’s domestic drug production capabilities.
The President toured the various production units within the state-of-the-art facility, gaining a first-hand look at its advanced technologies and processes. The complex specializes in the production of a wide range of pharmaceuticals, including inhalers for respiratory illnesses, medications for ear, nose, and throat conditions, and soft gelatin capsules produced through a comprehensive, end-to-end process. Notably, the facility will also manufacture medications for cancer treatment, addressing a critical need within the Algerian healthcare system.
Spanning an area of 27,000 square meters, the industrial complex represents a substantial investment in the region’s economy and is expected to generate over 500 new employment opportunities for the local population. This development aligns with the government’s broader strategy to bolster domestic industries, reduce reliance on imports, and create a more self-sufficient healthcare sector.
The inauguration of this pharmaceutical complex underscores the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access and affordability for all Algerians. By expanding domestic pharmaceutical production, Algeria aims to ensure a stable supply of essential medicines and reduce the financial burden on patients and the national healthcare system.
This new facility is poised to become a key player in Algeria’s pharmaceutical landscape, contributing to the nation’s health security and economic diversification.
