Algiers, October 22, 2025 – A significant drug trafficking network operating within the capital has been dismantled by the Algiers Security Services. This operation, conducted by the Mobile Brigade of the Judicial Police of Staouali, resulted in the apprehension of four individuals, including one woman, and the seizure of over two thousand psychotropic capsules.
According to a statement released by the National Security Directorate, the operation stemmed from intensive field investigations that uncovered the activities of a criminal network specializing in the illegal trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances. These investigations led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the network’s members and the confiscation of a substantial quantity of illicit substances.
The operation also yielded the recovery of 1,020,500 Algerian Dinars in cash, believed to be proceeds from the group’s criminal activities. In addition, authorities seized 420 grams of cocaine and a vehicle used for the transportation of the drugs.
The suspects have been presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Chéraga Court, where they will face charges under relevant criminal procedures. The successful disruption of this network represents a significant blow to organized crime within the Algiers region. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and further arrests may be possible as they seek to uncover the full extent of the network’s operations and any potential accomplices.
