Constantine, November 20, 2025 – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed today that the progress within Algeria’s housing sector serves as a vital economic indicator of national development. His remarks followed presentations detailing the development landscape in Constantine, including plans to modernize the city’s ancient quarter and various projects spanning multiple sectors.
“The resurgence observed in Algeria’s housing sector positions it as a leading economic barometer of national development,” stated President Tebboune.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to facilitating housing projects nationwide. “We are continually striving to improve processes, and I personally ensure that governors receive all necessary support to effectively manage housing projects,” he added.
President Tebboune addressed past predictions of instability linked to housing challenges. “Many wagered that housing would be the downfall of Algeria. However, the opposite has occurred. We are addressing this issue effectively, meeting the aspirations of our citizens.” He also noted the increasing self-reliance in housing construction, stating that housing project implementation is now “almost entirely Algerian.”
Furthermore, the President stressed the importance of preserving Constantine’s rich architectural and cultural heritage alongside ongoing development initiatives. After viewing a presentation on the rehabilitation of the old city and the restoration of historical buildings, President Tebboune expressed his gratitude to all those involved in revitalizing the region’s heritage.
