Algeria’s Annual Inflation Rate Stabilizes at 2.2% in September

Algiers, November 20, 2025 – Algeria’s annual inflation rate has stabilized at 2.2% at the end of September 2025, according to the National Statistics Office (ONS). This figure represents the evolution of the consumer price index between October 2024 and September 2025, compared to the period between October 2023 and September 2024.

The ONS report indicates a 2% decrease in the annual evolution of consumer prices, comparing September 2025 to September 2024. The raw index of consumer prices for September 2025, compared to August 2025, showed a decrease of -0.7%. This contrasts with the same period in 2024, which saw relative stability at +0.1%.

The decline is primarily attributed to a 1.4% decrease in food prices, driven by a reduction in the prices of manufactured goods (-0.3%). Fresh agricultural products significantly contributed to this result, registering a decrease of -2.1%, particularly due to lower prices for vegetables (-19.0%) and potatoes (-18.1%).

However, some products experienced price increases, including chicken (+19.0%) and fruits (+21.6%). Industrially processed food also saw a decrease of 0.7%, mainly due to lower prices for dried vegetables (-0.9%).

Regarding manufactured goods, the decline was due to lower prices for children’s clothing (-1.6%) and school supplies (-7.7%). Meanwhile, prices for certain products, such as children’s and infants’ shoes, saw a slight increase of (+0.9%), while service prices remained stable.

The ONS report concludes that the consumer price index recorded a noticeable decrease of 1.0% in September compared to August. This data reflects a dynamic economic landscape with fluctuating prices across various sectors.
