Heavy snowfall has led to the closure of several national roads in the Bouira and Tizi Ouzou provinces, disrupting traffic and making travel treacherous across mountainous regions. Authorities are urging extreme caution for all drivers.
According to the National Gendarmerie’s Traffic Information and Coordination Center, the National Road 15, a vital link between Bouira and Tizi Ouzou, is currently impassable at the areas of Fdjj Tirourda and Col Tirourda. The heavy accumulation of snow has rendered these high-altitude sections completely inaccessible.
The National Road 33 is also experiencing significant disruptions. Two sections are closed to traffic: the Assoul area within the municipality of Ait Boumahdi, and the area of Tikjda in the municipality of El Asnam. These closures have brought vehicular movement to a standstill in these areas.
While other roads remain open, driving conditions are challenging due to adverse weather. The National Gendarmerie is strongly advising motorists to exercise the utmost caution, particularly when approaching mountainous areas or regions experiencing severe weather disturbances. Drivers are urged to adhere to all traffic guidelines to ensure their safety and prevent potential accidents.
