Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Greb is representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the G20 Summit currently underway in Johannesburg, South Africa. The summit, taking place on November 22nd and 23rd, is themed around “Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability.”
According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s office, the summit, hosted under the presidency of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, brings together leaders from G20 member states, heads of state and government from various nations, and officials from international and regional organizations.
Discussions at this year’s summit, the first to be held on the African continent, will focus on a range of critical global challenges. Particular attention will be given to priorities identified by the South African presidency, which align with the concerns and aspirations of the African continent. These priorities are expected to include sustainable development, infrastructure investment, and addressing climate change.
Prior to the summit, Prime Minister Greb also participated in a consultative meeting on Friday, representing President Tebboune. This preparatory meeting, also chaired by President Ramaphosa, set the stage for the substantive discussions taking place throughout the G20 Summit.
Algeria’s participation underscores its commitment to multilateral cooperation and its active role in addressing global challenges within the G20 framework. The nation hopes to leverage the summit to advance its own development goals while contributing to solutions for shared global problems. The summit is a key opportunity for Algeria to engage with world leaders and promote its vision for a more equitable and sustainable future.
