Hamas Demands Identification of Alleged Militant After Israeli Violations

Gaza City – Hamas is calling on mediators to urgently intervene and halt alleged Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The organization is demanding that Israel disclose the identity of a militant it claims Hamas dispatched to attack Israeli forces, which Israel cited as justification for intensive airstrikes on Saturday, resulting in over 20 fatalities.

According to Hamas leader Ezzat al-Resheq, “We urge mediators and the American administration to pressure Israel to reveal the identity of the militant they claim Hamas sent.”

Al-Resheq asserted that Israel is “fabricating pretexts to evade the agreement and return to a war of extermination,” accusing them of systematically violating the agreement daily. He also refuted reports from Israeli sources claiming Hamas informed U.S. Envoy Steve Witkoff that the ceasefire agreement was terminated.

In a statement, Hamas emphasized that “the escalating violations by the occupation place the mediators and the American administration before the responsibility of confronting its attempts to undermine the ceasefire in Gaza.”

The organization added that the continued advancement of the Israeli army beyond the agreed-upon lines, leading to mass displacement of Palestinians, coupled with airstrikes and artillery shelling in the eastern areas of the Gaza Strip, constitutes a “blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement by the terrorist occupation.”

Hamas further stated that the alleged Israeli violations have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians and alterations to the army’s withdrawal lines, contradicting the agreed-upon maps. “We reject all attempts by the war criminal Netanyahu’s government to impose a reality that contradicts what was agreed upon,” the statement continued. “We call on the mediators to intervene urgently and pressure for an immediate halt to these violations. We also demand that the American administration fulfill its commitments and compel the occupation to implement the agreement.”
