Gaza – The Government Media Office in Gaza reported on Sunday that Israeli forces have committed 497 documented violations of the ceasefire agreement since it came into effect on October 10th. The office characterized these actions as a direct violation of international humanitarian law and the protocols attached to the agreement.
According to a statement released by the Media Office, 27 violations were recorded on Saturday alone, resulting in the deaths of 24 Palestinians and injuries to 87 others. Since the start of the ceasefire, Israeli actions have allegedly resulted in 342 civilian deaths, the majority of whom were children, women, and elderly individuals. An additional 875 people have been injured, and 35 citizens have been arrested during incursions and raids.
The Media Office detailed the alleged violations, stating they included 142 instances of direct fire targeting civilians, homes, and displacement camps. They also reported 21 incursions by military vehicles into residential and agricultural areas beyond the temporary demarcation line, 228 instances of land, air, and artillery shelling, and 100 instances of demolition of homes and civilian infrastructure.
The Government Media Office called on the United States, international mediators, and the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action to pressure Israel to halt the alleged violations and adhere to the terms of the ceasefire agreement and its humanitarian protocols. The statement emphasized that the continued “serious violations” undermine the chances of stability and that strong international pressure is the only way to compel Israel to respect international law and relevant international resolutions. The office asserted that these actions jeopardize the already fragile truce in the region. Continued violations will not be tolerated.
