Fighting Intensifies in Kordofan, RSF Targets Al-Ubayyid

Heavy fighting continues across Sudan’s Kordofan region between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Clashes have been reported on multiple fronts, with both sides vying for control of key strategic locations.

In a recent escalation, a drone, allegedly belonging to the RSF, targeted the heavily populated ‘Tagat’ area within Al-Ubayyid, the capital of North Kordofan. The attack raises concerns about the safety of civilians caught in the crossfire.

The RSF has also sustained its attacks on the 22nd Division of the SAF in Babnusa, located in western Kordofan. The army is reportedly resisting these attempts to seize control of the area. The ongoing conflict is defying international calls for a humanitarian truce.

DZWatch is closely monitoring the situation in Kordofan and will continue to provide updates as they become available. The escalating violence is exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation, with limited access to food, water, and medical care for many civilians. The international community is urged to intensify efforts to mediate a ceasefire and facilitate the delivery of essential aid to those in need.

The conflict highlights the fragility of the Sudanese transition and the urgent need for a comprehensive political solution. Experts warn that further escalation could lead to a wider regional conflict.
