Comprehensive Program to Revitalize Algerian Industry

Algiers, October 26, 2025 – The Ministry of Industry is spearheading a comprehensive program aimed at modernizing the nation’s industrial base and fostering a more robust industrial sector. This initiative encompasses critical areas such as enhancing quality infrastructure, promoting innovation, and bolstering the competitiveness of both industrial enterprises and national laboratories.

The details of this ambitious program were presented by the Minister of Industry during a hearing before the Finance and Budget Committee of the People’s National Assembly. The session, chaired by Mohammed Ben Hachem, the committee’s president, and attended by the Minister of Relations with Parliament, Najiba Jilali, took place as part of the review of the draft Finance Law for 2026.

Minister Yahia Bachir emphasized that the Ministry of Industry is operating under a holistic vision focused on improving the competitiveness of industrial institutions and national laboratories. This will be achieved through the advancement of standardization, metrology, accreditation, and conformity assessment activities, aligning them with international standards.

“We are actively developing technical regulations for industrial products and processes, ensuring close coordination with relevant sectors,” the Minister stated. He further explained that this endeavor is part of a new approach aimed at building a sustainable national industry grounded in quality, innovation, and strategic partnerships.

The Ministry is actively identifying industrial activities with high innovative potential and providing support to emerging technology and advanced manufacturing startups through incentive programs. Collaboration with universities and research centers is also being strongly encouraged.

Furthermore, Minister Bachir highlighted the importance of valuing national expertise and developing specialized skills in industrial professions, particularly in the circular, green, and digital economies.

The ministry is committed to implementing programs designed to protect and enhance existing production capacities, while simultaneously promoting the creation of industrial networks among enterprises and professional clusters to increase inter-branch integration.

The Minister also underscored the priority of developing subcontracting and industrial integration. Programs and action plans will be implemented to promote national integration, along with the development of a national roadmap for subcontracting activities and information exchange among stakeholders.

Regarding industrial land, Yahia Bachir affirmed that efforts are ongoing to increase land availability and develop activity zones and industrial areas through coordination with various relevant bodies. Work is underway to complete development and connection operations to various networks, ensuring a conducive environment for industrial growth.
