Naâma, Algeria – October 26, 2025 – Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, visited the wilaya of Naâma today to oversee and inspect ongoing infrastructure projects. During his visit, the Minister received a comprehensive briefing on the status of the public works and basic infrastructure sector in the region, covering current projects and future development plans.
Minister Djellaoui officially launched the aircraft apron and taxiway rehabilitation project at the Méchria Airport. This initiative aims to bolster the airport’s infrastructure and enhance its services to meet the growing demands of local development.
In the municipality of El Biodh, the Minister inaugurated the newly completed dual carriageway on National Road No. 6, spanning 30 kilometers between Méchria and El Biodh. This project is considered a significant structural undertaking designed to improve road safety and streamline transportation, ultimately enhancing connectivity between different areas and supporting local economic growth.
During the inauguration, Minister Djellaoui emphasized the importance of integrating tree planting into the project specifications before commencement. He highlighted the sector’s commitment to incorporating environmental considerations into all development projects, ensuring sustainable growth and environmental preservation. As part of the national afforestation campaign launched yesterday, the Minister also participated in a tree-planting ceremony, underscoring the sector’s dedication to actively contributing to national efforts aimed at protecting the environment and promoting afforestation as a strategic choice.
The Méchria Airport upgrade and the dual carriageway project are expected to significantly improve transport infrastructure in the Naâma region.
