Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkoub, received Her Excellency, the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni, at the ministry headquarters on Wednesday.
According to a statement released by the ministry, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Algeria and India, particularly in the vital sectors of hydrocarbons and mining. Both parties emphasized the deep and enduring historical ties between the two friendly nations.
The meeting provided an opportunity to explore promising investment opportunities offered by Algeria across various energy and mining activities. These include exploration and production, petrochemicals, the development of energy infrastructure, engineering, and the manufacturing of oil and gas equipment, as well as the marketing of oil, gas and refined products.
Opportunities for collaboration in the production and processing of phosphates, and the manufacturing of phosphate and nitrogen fertilizers, were also addressed as areas of mutual interest.
The Indian Ambassador expressed the keen interest of Indian companies in the Algerian market. She affirmed their readiness to contribute to the development of current and future projects in the hydrocarbons, oil and gas industries, and fertilizer production. The Ambassador emphasized India’s desire to elevate cooperation to higher levels, serving the mutual interests of both countries.
The statement concludes by highlighting the commitment of both Algeria and India to fostering stronger economic ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration in the energy and mining sectors. This meeting underscores the strategic importance of the Algeria-India relationship and the potential for further growth in key areas of mutual benefit.
