Tourism Minister Inspects Preparations for Sahara Tourism Festival

Timimoun, Algeria – Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industry, Houria Meddahi, has emphasized the importance of ensuring the International Sahara Tourism Festival achieves its full potential, stating that its success is crucial for enhancing the appeal of Saharan tourism and supporting sustainable development. The Minister made these remarks during a working visit to Timimoun on Wednesday evening.

The visit aimed to assess the final preparations for the International Sahara Tourism Festival, scheduled to take place in the Red Oasis from December 4th to 8th. According to a statement released by the Ministry, the visit was part of ongoing efforts to monitor on-the-ground preparations and guarantee the readiness of all venues, ultimately ensuring the success of this international event. The festival is designed to showcase Algerian Saharan tourism on both the international and continental stages, highlighting its significant potential.

During a tour of various hotel facilities that will accommodate participating delegations and festival facilities, Minister Meddahi expressed her satisfaction with the Red Oasis’s preparedness to host the event. She commended the efforts of local authorities and organizing teams for their diligent preparation for the festival.

Accompanied by local officials, Meddahi also inspected reception centers such as the Gourara Hotel, Djanane Malik, and Dar El-Hakim. Her inspection also included artisan exhibition spaces, lecture and cinema halls, the open-air theater designated for seminars and meetings, and public squares where artistic and folkloric performances will be held on the sidelines of the festival.

The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote tourism and showcase Algeria’s rich cultural heritage. The International Sahara Tourism Festival is expected to attract a large number of visitors and participants from around the world, further boosting the local economy and promoting sustainable tourism practices.
