Heavy Rain, Snowfall Expected Across Several Algerian Provinces

Algiers, November 27, 2025 – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for heavy rainfall and snowfall, according to the National Meteorological Office. A special weather alert has been issued, warning residents to take necessary precautions.

The meteorological office issued an orange level two warning, indicating rainfall ranging from 20 to 40 millimeters in Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, and Bejaia. Higher rainfall amounts, between 30 and 50 millimeters, are expected in Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, northern Setif, and northern Mila. Coastal areas may experience rainfall exceeding 60 millimeters locally.

The alert also forecasts significant snowfall on mountain peaks exceeding 1000 to 1100 meters in altitude. Affected provinces include Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Bejaia, Jijel, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, Skikda, Souk Ahras, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, and Khenchela. Snow accumulation is predicted to be between 5 and 20 centimeters.

Higher elevations, between 1100 and 1200 meters, in Blida, Ain Defla, Tissemsilt, and Medea are also expected to receive snowfall, with accumulations ranging from 5 to 10 centimeters.
