Algeria Elected to Lead African Child Rights Committee

Maseru, Lesotho – Algeria has been elected to the presidency of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC), a body of the African Union. The election took place during the 46th Ordinary Session of the Committee in Maseru, the capital of Lesotho.

Ms. Sabrina Kher was chosen to represent Algeria and will serve as President of the ACERWC for the 2025-2027 term. She succeeds Mr. Wilson Almeida Adão in this role.

The ACERWC is a crucial organization dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the rights and well-being of children across the African continent. Its mandate includes monitoring the implementation of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, conducting research, and providing guidance to member states.
