Ministry of Internal Trade Partners with High Commission for Digitalization

Algiers – The Ministry of Internal Trade and the High Commission for Digitalization have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at leveraging cloud computing resources to enhance the efficiency and transparency of the national market. The agreement was formalized during a ceremony held earlier today, attended by the Minister of Internal Trade and Market Regulation, Amel Abdelatif, and the High Commissioner for Digitalization, Mariam Benmouloud.

According to a statement released by the Ministry, the agreement focuses on utilizing the ‘service du cloud Etatique’ at the National Algerian Center for Digital Services. This will allow the hosting of several strategically important digital platforms for the internal trade sector and market regulation.

Minister Abdelatif emphasized that this initiative aligns with the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to modernize and digitalize the sector. She highlighted the vision of unifying efforts, improving the efficiency of public services, and fostering transparency and effectiveness in managing key issues.

The agreement will facilitate the hosting of essential digital platforms at the National Algerian Center for Digital Services. These platforms include: the management platform for the fund compensating transportation costs to southern provinces, the electronic platform for the certificate of conformity, the system for monitoring the production and distribution of subsidized milk, the email system and domain name system (DNS) for the National Register of Commerce, the wholesale market management system, and the website of the National Laboratory for Experiments, which serves as a digital gateway for information on services, publication of conformity certificates, and presentation of scientific and training activities to facilitate communication with economic operators.

Minister Abdelatif stressed that these platforms are not merely technical tools but fundamental pillars for strengthening the governance of the national market. They will provide accurate and real-time data, improve monitoring mechanisms, enhance transparency in supply chains, reduce imbalances and illegal practices, and support citizens’ purchasing power through better control of distribution and prices.

‘The digitalization of the sector through these platforms will contribute to building a more stable and transparent national market, capable of facing economic challenges,’ stated Minister Abdelatif, reiterating the vision established by the President of the Republic. The High Commissioner for Digitalization echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of this partnership in advancing the nation’s digital transformation agenda.
