Algerian Senate Delegation Participates in Union for the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly Meetings

Cairo, Egypt – A delegation from the Algerian Council of the Nation (Senate) is participating in the meetings of the Standing Committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM) in Cairo, Egypt. The meetings commenced this Friday, according to a statement released by the Senate.

The PA-UfM’s Standing Committees encompass a wide range of crucial areas for regional cooperation. These include the Committee on Political Affairs, Security, and Human Rights; the Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs, Social Affairs, and Education; the Committee on Women’s Rights in Mediterranean Countries; the Committee on Improving Quality of Life and Exchanges Between Civil Societies and Culture; and the Committee on Energy, Environment, and Water.

DZWatch understands that members of these committees will formulate recommendations aimed at strengthening cooperation, partnership, and regional integration between the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean. These recommendations will focus on the specific areas of competence of each committee, within the framework of their respective mandates.

The Algerian Senate’s delegation to these important meetings is part of a joint delegation representing both chambers of the Algerian Parliament. The delegation is headed by Bilal Mohamed Tahar, and includes Senators Hamdi Cherif, Ghanem Fakhr Eddine Abdel Raouf, Abdelhamid Bouchermeh, Bilal Khaf Allah, and Mahani Haddadou.

The Council of the Nation views the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean as a vital platform for fostering dialogue and collaboration on key issues facing the Mediterranean region.
